PEAK Former Student Spotlight: We have had some fantastic students that have gone on to do some awesome things in the dental field. Today, we want to introduce you to Mackenzie!! Mackenzie was in our first dental assisting class.
1: What is my current position?
My current position is an Oral Surgeons Assistant at Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons and Dental Implant Center

2. What is my favorite part of dental assisting?
My favorite part of dental assisting is being able to comfort patients when they come in for a procedure knowing they are nervous. Being personable helps to keep heir mind of what they are there for and makes the them feel more important and more than just another patient. Also, knowing that I am able to be apart of bringing patients out of pain and giving life changing results for some with larger procedures such as a Full-Arch Restoration, is so rewarding!

3. What is my favorite part of working at your office?
My favorite part of working at Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons and Dental Implant Center is that the Doctors are so great and always fun to be around. Dr. Lesneski and Dr. Frey do such phenomenal jobs with each patient. The assistants here work well together and are always helping each other out and improving.

4. What did you learn in class that has helped you succeed in your position?
From attending PEAK Dental Assisting School I have learned to pick up skills and learn rather quickly which is extremely helpful in my current position as an oral surgeons assistant. New things are constantly being taught to better the patient and myself, which need to be learned and applied right away. PEAK Dental Assisting School has definitely helped me succeed as an assistant.

"My name is Quanisha Smith and I am a trained Dental Assistant. I participated in the winter semester of Peak Dental Assisting School earlier this year. I absolutely loved the fact that the class was held in a actual dental office. I learned hands on four handed dentistry techniques. I was also trained to take x-rays of teeth and I am now certified in the state of Michigan to take x-rays. I learned operations and systems of how a front desk is ran in a dental office and I was also trained and certified in CPR. I was given excellent advise on interviewing techniques and also resume writing. All this was completed in the convenience of 10 weeks! The staff at the dental office was very helpful. The instructor Sasha Burau was awesome! She is a excellent teacher and gives very insightful information to become the best dental assistant you can be. I am now working full time in a dental office and I love my career!"
